These terms apply when you use Revena: when you sign up for an event, use your Revena pass or take part in the community. If you're an organiser, read the terms for organisers.
1. Who we are
Revena is a trading name of Marco Castermans, sole proprietorship. 3700 Tongeren-Borgloon, Belgium. Company number 1036.559.717, VAT BE 1036.559.717. You can reach us at hallo@revena.be. We reply on working days within 24 hours.
2. What Revena does, and what the organiser does
On Revena you sign up for events by organisers: running clubs, cycling clubs, local festival committees, non-profits and companies. You buy your place from the organiser. They set the price, the distances, the event rules and what happens if you can't come. They are responsible for the event itself: the course, safety, insurance and the results.
Revena provides the system you use to sign up and pay, your ticket, the Revena pass, the rankings and the community.
Every event page shows who the organiser is, how to reach them, and whether they are a business or not. If the organiser isn't a business, for example an informal association with no profit motive, consumer law doesn't apply to your agreement with them. What Revena promises you here always applies.
Some events are only listed. For those you sign up with the organiser directly, on their own site. That entry is covered by their terms, not Revena's. A listing gives no points and no pass discount.
3. The price
The price you see is the all-in price. It includes Revena's service fee if the organiser passes it on. How much that is always appears under the price: 4% of the normal ticket price plus VAT, so at least €0.30 and at most €0.96 per ticket. There's no surcharge for any payment method, and nothing is added at the end.
If you have a pass and you're logged in, your pass discount comes off automatically in the checkout. You always see the normal price and your price.
A price can go up on a date shown in advance on the event page. You pay the price that applied when you ordered.
4. Signing up and paying
- You choose an event, a distance and the number of tickets.
- You fill in what's needed for your ticket. If you also sign up other people, you give their name and email address, and they fill in the rest themselves. You may only sign up people who want to take part.
- You see an overview with all the amounts. With the Sign up and pay button you place your order, and you're obliged to pay.
- You pay through Stripe or Mollie, directly to the organiser.
- You're only signed up once the payment has gone through. You immediately get an email with your ticket.
If the payment fails or you cancel it, you're not signed up and you pay nothing.
Under 18? Then you need a parent's permission to sign up. A parent can also sign their child up themselves.
Fill in your details correctly. With the wrong year of birth you end up in the wrong category, and with the wrong email address you won't get your ticket.
5. No right of withdrawal
When you sign up for an event on a fixed date, you have no right of withdrawal. That's set out in article VI.53, 12° of the Code of Economic Law (Wetboek van economisch recht). So you can't cancel your order free of charge within 14 days. This is also shown above the button in the checkout.
6. If you can't come
What's possible then is up to the organiser. It's on the event page, before you order:
- Transferring your ticket. If the organiser allows it, you transfer your ticket in My Revena to someone else, with their name and email address. It costs nothing. The price stays what you paid. The new participant gets the points.
- Choosing another distance, up to the date the organiser has set.
- A refund, under the organiser's rule.
You may never resell a ticket for more than you paid for it. The Act of 30 July 2013 on the sale of tickets for events forbids it. The organiser can cancel a ticket that was sold that way anyway.
7. If the event is cancelled or changes
- The organiser cancels the event. Then you get back everything you paid, service fee included, the same way you paid, within 14 days of the cancellation.
- The date or the place changes. Then you can choose: keep your ticket for the new date or place, or get everything back.
- Force majeure on the day, such as a storm. What happens then is in the event rules. If they say nothing, you get your money back.
The organiser makes the refund, because they received the money. Revena follows it up. If it doesn't work out, email us and we'll help.
With a refund you get back what you actually paid, so your price after the pass discount.
8. On the day
You follow the event rules and the instructions of the organiser and their volunteers. You take part at your own responsibility as far as your health is concerned: know your limits, and if in doubt, ask a doctor.
You show your ticket at the start on your phone or on paper. The QR code only contains a random code, no name.
9. The Revena pass
- The pass is free. You can get it from age 13.
- One pass per person. Your pass is yours alone. You may not share or sell it.
- How you collect points, how you move up a rank and how much discount you get is on the Rules of the Revena pass page. Those rules are part of these terms.
- Points, levels, ranks and stamps have no cash value. You can't exchange them for money or transfer them.
- The rules never change to your disadvantage during a season. Changes for the next season are online by 1 November at the latest. A change never makes you lose points, levels or a rank.
- Anyone who tries to get points without really taking part loses the points for that season. If it happens again, we can close the pass. A person always takes that decision, and you'll hear why.
10. The rankings and the prizes
You only appear in the rankings if you turn that on yourself. Anyone under 16 never appears in them.
After the season, the top three per sport, per province and in Brussels get a free entry from Revena for an event of their choice on Revena in the following season. Revena pays the organiser the full price. The rankings count on 31 December. We email the winners in January. You choose your event and sign up before 31 December of that following season. A prize is personal, and you can't exchange it for money.
11. The community
You stay sporting, online too. What is and isn't allowed is on the Community rules page. Those rules are part of these terms.
What you post stays yours. You do give Revena permission to show it on Revena to the people you let see it, for as long as it's online. If you delete it, that permission ends.
Only post photos you hold the rights to, and of people who are happy with it.
You can report anything that doesn't belong. How that works and what happens next is in the community rules.
12. Your account
You log in with your email address and a code we email you. Make sure nobody else can get into your mailbox. You can always delete your account yourself in My Revena.
We can suspend or close an account in case of misuse: fake entries, fraud with points, or repeatedly breaking the community rules. Unless it's urgent, you get a warning first. You always hear why, and you can object.
13. What Revena promises, and where that ends
We do our best to keep Revena working at all times. If we need to take it offline briefly for maintenance, we do that when there are few entries, and never on an event day unless we have to.
Revena isn't liable for the event itself. The organiser is responsible for that. Revena is liable for its own mistakes, as the law provides. These terms don't take anything away from that where intent, gross negligence, or harm to someone's life or health is concerned.
14. Complaints and disputes
Email hallo@revena.be first. We'll look for a solution together. If it's about the event itself, we'll put you in touch with the organiser.
If we can't sort it out, as a consumer you can go to the Consumer Mediation Service (Consumentenombudsdienst), www.consumentenombudsdienst.be.
Belgian law applies to these terms. If you're a consumer, you can go to the court where you live, and you keep the protection the law of your place of residence gives you.
15. If the terms change
New terms appear here with a new date. If you have an account, you get an email 30 days in advance. An order follows the terms that applied when you ordered.
These terms exist in Dutch, French and English. If they differ, the language you signed up in applies.
